Winnie Mandela: a fallen hero

Publié le 2 Novembre 2013

Winnie Mandela is a politic woman of South Africa. She was the second Nelson Mandela's wife, old president of South Africa. She was born in 1939, in September. In her life, her principal activity was to be minister of art, culture, science and technology since 1994 to 1995. Why Winnie Mandela was a hero? and why is she considerate as a fallen one?

First, during her life, she fought against apartheid, her husband was in prison . Winnie Mandela's nickname was: "mother of nation". All her life Winnie fought against racial discrimination or social discrimination. And for the new generation she had a message: " Stay strong, keep fighting! ". Maybe she wanted the fight to continues and she hoped that all her efforts will not have been for nothing. So Winnie Mandela was admired for her determination to fight for a just cause. People considers her as a hero but she also has a bad reputation.

Indeed Winnie Mandela had a bad reputation when she started to fight with violence. Indeed, her speech is less peace than her husband's speech. Because she's accomodating with white race and Winnie was agressive and provocating against the white. In 1989, she was accused of killing a young activist (14 years) because she accused him to be a spy. in April 1992, Nelson Mandela divorced her, because he couldn't support her anymore. His wife, deceived him and he didn't help her in politic. Since 1993 to 1997, she presided the league of the women. In 2003, she is showed guilty by justice of south Africa to have committed 43 fraud and 25 thefts so she went in prison during four years. So she had a bad reputation because people thought she left fallen her fight for black people.

In conclusion,Winnie Mandela is considered as a good hero because she hardly fought against apartheid but she made so many faults that she is also considered as a fallen hero.
